Formal Training Vs Self-Teaching in Computer Graphics Arts

Do Art schools fully prepare you for your first job as a 3D artist or self-teaching is a better alternative?

Computer Graphics Art is one of those rare fields, where results count more than any certification. A lot of great artists are self taught, a degree does not seem to be mandatory, therefore demo Reels and Portfolios seem to have a more important role to play than education. However self-teaching may be a long process if you want to establish a career in this field (books, online tutorials, forums etc.). Determination, work ethic, and passion are the keys to success.

A school is a great bonus, but it is not guaranteed you are going to be the best artist on the block when you are done. No matter how much schooling someone has, if he does not love what he does. Also, schools are definitely only as good as their instructors... but no matter how great a teacher is, it makes no difference if the student is not just as passionate.

Schools provide some benefits like networking that you can also have with internet Art communities, learning aspects you may not have the discipline to easily teach yourself (e.g. programming with 3D packages) and speeding up your learning.

If you intend to go to school you should know that there are lot of things to be learned and hence it is important to first select the specialized field you want to be trained in. Once you have decided what you actually want to do then you can follow on your path to perfection. You can opt for colleges that offer you a regular degree or for institutes that specialize in short term courses in only particular software that is essential in Computer Graphics Arts.

As for any area, it is impractical to expect schools to fully prepare you for the real world, they will guide you through the first steps and show you the ropes, but in the end, you learn on your own, or you learn from your classmates. The real training begins once an artist gets a job and works together with other people in a production environment.

An employer may give importance to your education, but experience is much more important to the employer than degrees. Choices are based on visible talent as opposed to academic titles. Alternatively you can offer freelance services.

Online Degrees From Georgian Universities - Your Key to Success

I know there are certain misgivings students generally tend to harbor about online degrees. Are they as good as regular ones? Do they hold the same weight? These are only some of the many questions that may bother you before you opt for an online degree. All I can say, as a professional in the field for over a decade now, is that you can lay your doubts at rest. On the contrary, I am going to list you some advantages that online degrees have over regular degrees. Conceding that student and campus life in Georgia is wonderful, I must say that the scopes are little limited and your programs a little rigorous when you become a regular student. One of the biggest advantages that online degrees have over these regular degrees is its flexible. You can pursue it at a pace that suits you. Physical distance becomes no hindrance, and you can pursue your profession along with your studies. Finally, since we have technology at our disposal, there is no reason why we shouldn't make the best use of it. Moreover, as a busy professional, you are not really left with of a choice to attend a regular course.

Once you have decided to pursue an online course in one of the Georgian Universities, the next step is to select the course and the university you will enroll in. This can be a difficult step, as the sheer range of disciplines that modern universities typically offer can be enough to puzzle you. The key factor is to know your mind and the specific requirements that your field of work demands. Choose a discipline that will help in the advancement of your career and also satisfy your thirst for information and knowledge. For your convenience I will make an attempt to streamline the possibilities. Ignoring the specifics, some of the broad areas in which online degrees can be earned from Georgian universities include the following:

Business Technology
Criminal Justice
Nursing
Information Technology
Visual Communication

Some of the best institutes from where you can earn these online degrees include the University of Phoenix, The American InterContinental University, Strayer University and South University.

Georgia has some of the top art institutes and universities of the US, and definitely is the leader when it comes to imparting online courses in art. Creative art, you must remember is not what it used to be even twenty years back: struggling artists fighting it out in their cluttered studios or running around to bag a modest job of an illustrator. Digital technology has revolutionized the field of creative arts. With Media Arts, Animation, interior designing and advertising coming up in a big way, artists are having it better than ever before. Why not then sharpen your skills with a little help of some of the best people in the creative arts business. This is a global art action about the making aware to the correct use of the water resources, ideated by Giuseppe Stampone and addressed to the primary school children. Spread as an artistic-social project through the intervention of Solstizio (www.progettosolstizio.net) and the support of Progettomondo MLAL (www.mlal.org). The main feature of Water-colors is the territorial expansion with the involvement of public and private organizations , schools, educational districts, cultural agencies, groups and movements. Through an artistic and educational path where every child takes part decorating a bottle, assimilated to the human body, and transforming it in his self-portrait. A recycled plastic bottle becomes, from a private water container, means to represent a fragment of the world with its specificities. The artist chooses the bottles and composes them creating photographic posters of different measures; the aim is to create a cognitive map of identities, mixed from the meetings, the changes, the colors and the fantasies. In the final show the artist reforms and re-connects the single differences in an only moment of sharing, where the different ways of interpreting the reality meet each others. The single bottles make out an enormous installation in the city main ...
